Jan Blatný is a Consultant Haematologist at the Department of Paediatric Haematology, Centre for Thrombosis and Haemostasis and the director of Haemophilia Comprehensive Care centre of the Children’s University Hospital Brno, Czech Republic. He is also an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at Masaryk University, Brno. His main fields of interest have always been haemophilia, life threatening bleeding, and thrombosis in children.
Dr Blatný is the Coordinator of the Czech National Haemophilia Programme (the authority managing and overseeing haemophilia care in The Czech Republic). He co-operates with the Perinatal/Paediatric Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) of the ISTH, serves on the Executive Committee of EAHAD, on the Working Group for Pharmacokinetics and Population Pharmacokinetics of Factor Concentrates at SSC for Factor VIII, Factor IX and Rare Coagulation Disorders of the ISTH, on the Working Group on Paediatric Haematology of the Czech Paediatric Society, as well as on the Steering Committee of the Czech Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He is a member of Medical Advisory Group (MAG) of EHC (European Haemophilia Consortium). He has authored and/or contributed to over 90 scientific papers and books and serves as a reviewer of several scientific journals, including Haemophilia Journal.
