Merel Timmer is a physiotherapist, human movement scientist and epidemiologist working at the Van Creveldkliniek, University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands. Her work at the Van Creveldkliniek comprises clinical care, scientific research and lecturing.
As a clinical physiotherapist and researcher, her work is dedicated to persons with bleeding disorders, including both children and adults. In 2018, she finished her PhD, titled “Joints, functioning and movement behaviour in Haemophilia. Currently, she is supervising PhD students on research projects investigating primary care physiotherapy for persons with haemophilia and the use of Point Of Care ultrasound in haemophilia.
As a lecturer in the MSc Clinical Health Sciences, she teaches research skills to clinical physiotherapists. During her 4-year term on the Scientific Committee of the Royal Dutch Society for Physiotherapy, she founded a subcommittee for early career researchers in physiotherapy.
